Message Well, got the rest of the pipes yesterday afternoon, spent a good bit of time last night and this morning putting together the 2nd manifold. I will say that the 2nd time around is MUCH easier! :) Now that I have templates of each of the pieces, if I have to build another set down the road, perhaps from inconel when I muster up the gumption to actually lay a blade to a $115 u-bend, I should be able to cut out a set in about a day.

These still need to be welded together to finish them and there are still a few odds and ends I need to clean up before they are ready to go to the welder. Roland (DAYTONAZ) found a welder for me the other day and they specialize in welding pipes so I am leaning towards letting someone else do the actual TIG work for me. I will be handing over some left over pipes that I will spend some time collecting at some odd angles to let them weld on first so I can inspect their work before I hand over my manifolds for the finishing touch.

I've spent some time eyeballing some of the design parameters of these manifolds and it has occured to me that the likelyhood of them cracking isn't going to be from any weight loading on them. I dont think any aftermarket manifolds actually fails because of weight loading (Im sure it doesn't help them though) but rather from all the thermal expansion and contraction that the metal undergoes while in use.

I have a couple of tricks in mind to try and cope with this problem for my manifolds, but it is all theory right now and we wont know the truth until they are put into use and some miles have been put on them so I will reserve from making any comments about it - we will just have to see.

So, enough blabbing, here's some pics.

This is the one you have already seen, but here's another pic with the turbo bolted up and some sunshine. :)

This is the manifold that was built last night/today.
